The promise of gene editing – BBC News

Posting this BBC news article may or may not be a good idea. In the future gene editing will take its place in medical science. But ethical questions must be answered first by the people who will be doing gene editing before letting this practice loose on humanity.

As a transgender and intersex activist I am greatly concerned about political or religious urges to “normalize” humans into specific criteria (i.e. heterosexual, male, female), at the expense of a diverse gene pool that has naturally evolved down through the ages. And if this starts, where will it end? This sort of thing may become, like an addiction, something, once started, can’t be stopped.
