UN Live United Nations Web TV –

Are you interested in what goes on at the United Nations? This a link to United Nations Web TV. Put this URL on you browser and add a free news/educational resource to your daily digital viewing. Considering the hypocrisy of American TV/radio news that could care less about balanced reporting and just broadcasts sensationalist crap over and over to help their political cronies garner votes and advertisers sell products, UN Web TV has no advertising. It doesn’t even have money-raising telethons like NPR.

The current US election season illustrates what happens when, in a democratic society, there is no balanced reporting of what is going on in the world. When the uninformed masses are manipulated by a person who comes on like he will have total control over the United States and the world will bow to what he decrees, there is a total disregard of the reality of the existence of a world community, based on law and human rights.

Besides the five default categories, there is a search feature on the website.Programs scheduled are in US Eastern Daylight Time.

Meet the Trans Teenager Who Helped Bring LGBT Curriculum to NYC Schools | Out Magazine

One would think that as New York City goes, so goes the world-or at least the North American part of it. The sad fact is that when it comes to LGBTI persons, the proactive struggle for human rights has to be repeated over and over in places not as cosmopolitan as the Big Apple.

Since the Supreme Court ruling on Same Sex Marriage last year, the LGBTI haters have targeted the use of restrooms by transgender and intersex person, whose physical genitalia don’t conform to the “proper designation” for “male” and “female” gender designations. Many transgender and/or intersex persons live in jurisdictions where obtaining a diver’s license or state identification card with one’s affirmed gender, in place of the gender assigned at birth, is difficult, if not impossible.

Somehow the issue of sexual orientation and gender identity has become a religious issue with a large segment of American society. Genetics and human gestation are still realms that are the sacred turf of medical practitioners and other professionals. So-called “conversion therapy”, the attempt to change one’s sexual orientation or gender identity, is a bogus science condemned by medicine, psychiatry, psychology, and counselors worldwide. But still many persons equate being LGBTI as the spiritual affliction of “sin” and refuse to accept this condition in their children or other family members.

The strength and proactivity of this young person needs to be duplicated elsewhere, especially in these days of increased media attention towards sexual and gender minorities.

France24: Barbie and a Diverse World

It is heartening to see Barbie with different skin tones and body types. Young ladies go through so much wanting to fit in to society. Life-threatening eating disorders are things that seem to affect girls more than boys.

But what about the assigned-gender girls who are affirmed-gender boys? If Mattel wants to offer a truly diverse product, a transgender Barbie in varying degrees of “outness” must be offered. And for the cisgender Barbies there needs to be a straight boyfriend who becomes a Barbie.

Some of you reading this may think I am making a joke out of this whole Barbie madness. Really, I’m not. Barbie can be a spokesperson for a humanity of more than two genders where same-sex marriage is becoming a worldwide phenomenon.

Chittister: Confront challenges, seize opportunities, build a new world | National Catholic Reporter

Sister Joan Chittister has always been a holy, bold, and persistent force for change in my life. St. Placid Priory in Lacey, Washington, where I made my Oblation as a Benedictine Oblate, has this presentation by Sister Joan on its Facebook page. We both see the love of God as not being limited by any limitations, categorizations, or other boundaries imposed by humanity on one another. The creation of a world of love and peace IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY.

New post Woody Guthrie: I hate a song that makes you think that you are not any good

Such a wonderful way to start the week–to sing a song that lifts you up and not put you down. We put ourselves down by internalizing the hurtful things people say about us. We fill our lives with things that disillusion us rather than move us forward to help and serve others.  STOP DOING THAT!
